WHY I BECAME A WEIGHT-LOSS NUTRITIONIST

HEY !

I’m Samantha from SammieNehmi Nutrition, here’s a little bit about me and how I got into nutrition and the natural medicine world.

Having body image issues and nutritional deficiencies as a young girl is what drew my interest into nutrition at first. The body is so delicate & can be affected by which foods it is given, or not given.

After struggling with body image for years, I found it to be important to search for a healthier lifestyle to improve my weight, health, and mental state.

My knowledge from my degree and excitement about nutrition lead to another great interest in alternative holistic ways to treat health issues — acupuncture and chinese medicine. I’m currently in a graduate Acupuncture/Oriental Medicine (AOM) program, it’s my third year and I graduate in August AHH [bitter sweet]. Nutrition and acupuncture/oriental medicine go hand in hand with each other with a couple of things like examining and treating a patient as a whole when trying to diagnose.

Before studying nutrition though, I had tried over 7 diets, diet pills, detox teas……you name it. So I know a weight-loss journey can be super challenging in so many different ways. Not only with food being one of the hardest and most important parts but there's other stuff that gets in the way. There's your kids…… or work…..or not having time to cook so you order out all the time, stress, no sleep, the list goes on and on right?

I've been through this too and I became obsessed with finding a weight-loss solution... at some point I was just so tired of trying to many different things and always ending up back at square one searching for the new thing.... but when you think about it, food is around everything we do that's enjoyable. Being out with friends at dinner, maybe having some drinks, having a playdate, going on vacation, holidays, etc etc.

As a matter of fact, 5-6 years ago I was the heaviest I’ve ever been… I had a very unhealthy mindset around food and was so exhausted from already trying a handful of diets..I struggled with and wasted years of my life trying to lose weight with diets; stressing, trying the wrong things, not enjoying gatherings or holidays, not enjoying food at all, it was always something that was on my mind, whether i was counting calories, super hungry all day, it was always something.

Not to mention all the money i had spent on diet pills, diet teas, laxatives, shakes, coaches with horrible advice because they had no science evidence based knowledge..... everything.... In the end, i had a lot of stomach problems and still do.

I finally learned losing weight the unhealthy way, the quick way, the 30 day challenge way, isn't sustainable, it isn’t long-term and everything will get in the way of it and it will fail you every time.

I also learned that there is so much more to weight-loss than just lowering your calories for example. I learned there had to be a balance..

I slowly left behind the bad habits and unhealthy state of mind around food and slowly found my freedom. It took me going to school and learning how amazing food is for you, to finally get myself out of it and push me towards wanting to help others do the same.....It took me years to do this because I didn’t have a guide that knew exactly how to do it without overly restricting, i didn’t have a step by step and i didn't have anything that could be personalized for me to fit my lifestyle which is VERY important.

That’s exactly why I created my program! I created something I wish I had years ago.

Here's an inspiring quote that I wanted to share because I live by this and i built my program off of this.

“A LITTLE PROGRESS EACH DAY ADDS UP TO BIG RESULTS”

My specialty is weight-loss with less stress and one of the ways that I implement a less stressful journey for you is by small steps, and small goals. We set both small and large goals but small ones are the important ones. It's important not to rush and take those small steps and master them that way it can become a better habit and just really be able to consistently lose weight with less stress mentally and less stress physically to your body.

In my experience, the people who rush rather than follow the program, are the ones who end up failing after a month when motivation dies down. but that’s not what keeps you going to get your results, its accountability and determination. and small steps!! because all these little wins and small steps, turn into bigger leaps and bigger wins!
